ROSSVILLE UNION PRESENTS RYE 101
2019

MASTERS OF THEIR CRAFT

They’ve been in the rye game for over a century in Whiskey City, USA: the moniker of town called Lawrenceburg on the banks of the Ohio River in Indiana. I brought that history to the masses with Rye 101, a pocket-sized tasting guide with one purpose: to show how rye whiskey, and especially Rossville Union, are the superior spirit.

Publication Design, Branding, Design

This project started as most do: with a crisis of identity. Branding the book as a singular experience was important to highlight Rossville Union’s unique perspectives on the whiskey business. Rye 101 felt right: a blend of education and spirit.

Paper choice and embellishments on the cover were a high priority from the beginning of this project. Copper foil, metallic ink and a leatherlike paper (yes, that’s paper) were chosen to make certain that this book would be a keepsake and not a throwaway.

We told the history of rye from the very beginning. It’s the American history of rye that informed Rossville Union and was necessary for appreciating the complex spirit.
